Broadcom Joins WirelessHD™ Consortium

The Berlin based IFA show saw an announcement by Broadcom Corporation, a company well know for being high in the food chain as far as semiconductors for wired and wireless communications are concerned, that they will be joining the WirelessHD™ consortium.
Not only will Broadcom Corporation help to ensure that consumer electronics devices, displays and HD content can all be linked through wireless, but they will also help in the development of home audio and video technology, in a cost effective and time efficient manner.
Broadcom is in support, and is aware of the importance that their support has, to help bring in the next generation wireless networks, including high interface specification and distribution of voice, video, data and multimedia.
This of course in itself would be a massive achievement, as high definition video, multi-channel audio, intelligent format and control data haven’t been merged into one wireless digital interface before now.
It will allow ease of access and a massive range of choice for consumers wanting to view or listen to a wide range of media content.
WirelessHD itself is dedicated to the development and the drive forward of the WirelessHD standard, targeting HD disc players and HDTVs as a good place to start, but of course their quest won’t stop there, as they will continue to target all media forms including HDTVs, HD disc players, digital video cameras and game consoles.
