Vizio VO42L 42-Inch LCD HDTV
Vizio sets have been known to cost much less than most competing brands in the market. Only the Westinghouse TX-42F430S and the AOC Envision L42H761 - among 42-inch models - are cheaper than the Vizio VO42L. However, the Vizio VO42L gives consumers a more complete package with features most users are looking for in an HDTV.
Vizio VO42L reviews allowed the set to display a more natural-looking picture and vibrantly beautiful images. The VO42L, in fact, fared just a step lower to that of the market leader, the LG 42LG60. However, their price tags are very different. The LG’s $2600 price tag is way above the Vizio’s $1100 street price. Given this information, its easy to judge who is the winner.
The Vizio couldn’t quite overtake the LG when it comes to picture quality. This is because Vizio’s images wasn’t all that perfect. Some images looked fuzzy and artifacts and pixelation appeared around moving objects. Flesh tones have problems too with it being too saturated.
As mentioned, the Vizion offers a more complete package than its contemporaries in the market. Its good video is paired with an excellent audio and this makes the VO42L appealing to consumers not keen on spending on extra audio devices. The VO42L’s built-in speakers provides just enough volume and quality to make it acceptable to the more standard users.
Compared to past Vizio sets, the VO42L had a few changes in its design and features. The VO42L now has easy-access inputs on the side of the TV. It’s remote control is small with few buttons giving it a minimalist design. But its attempt at coolness doesn’t make it easy or intuitive to use. For instance, it has no Menu button; you access the menu by pressing the Enter button, which is labeled neither Enter nor Menu. It also lacks an Aspect Ratio or Picture Size button - to zoom in on a 4:3 program, you must go deep into the menus.
Given its price tag, the Vizio VO42L won’t give you everything you need in an HDTV set. However, it gives you just enough and when compared to other 42-inch sets in the market, the Vizio VO42L stands out.
