LG 50PY3DF Plasma HDTV
The LG 50PY3DF is a well-designed 50-inch plasma television. Tests and reviews showed that the set performed really well and could compete to most plasma HDTV’s in the market. It’s certainly not perfect and it doesn’t support everything, but overall, it is a good enough HDTV for everyone.
The 50PY3DF’s color quality with standard and high-definition content is actually very good. Not much can be said about its brightness and contrast either. All of these properties performed strongly on tests and came out really well. Skin tones are not that different either as it displayed very realistic colors. The set showed good detail in dark areas and shadow rederings.
The 50PY3DF also offers an array of connection options. There are hree HDMI inputs built-into the set. A USB port on left side of the 50PY3DF lets you attach a flash-card reader or a thumb drive and display a photo slide show on the TV. The remote allows you to control the slide-show settings and advance the photos manually.
Its on-screen display menu allows users to adjust the TV’s many settings. Settings that can be modified include individual red, green, and blue controls under the color temperature submenu. Color presets for Dynamic, Standard, and Mild adjust contrast, brightness, and vividness. Two additional User modes let you program your own custom TV presets. You can access all of these settings through the TV’s touch pad or via the remote.
The built-in speakers are installed on the sides of the TV, making the panel somewhat wider than on other TVs of the same size. The speakers produced rich sounds which is perfect for home entertainment needs.
