Danielle Nagler heads BBC HD
BBC HD, the UK’s first free-to-air high definition channel, now has a new boss.

Danielle Nagler, who currently heads the director-general’s office, is to take over the role from Seetha Kumar, who is moving on to another role within the corporation.

The good news for viewers is that Nagler plans to increase HD programming and prepare the channel for its launch on Freeview.

BBC HD broadcasts programmes from across all BBC channels, including natural history, drama, performance and sport.

Nagler aims to pick the best in order to take HD programmes to the 10 million HD-ready sets in the UK.

At the moment, only a few of these sets are used to watch HD programmes.

The BBC hopes to change this and make HD a mainstream choice.
