Samsung LN32A450 LCD HDTV
A lot of people have been impressed with Samsung LCDs. The LN32A450, is another winner from Samsung. This LCD gives you solid black level performance that is comparable to plasmas in the market. It also has accurate colors along with a rich feature set. The only thing that comes with this excellence is of course, the price. It’s not a cheap set but you will definitely get your money’s worth.
The LN32A450 has an all-glossy-black exterior that is definitely better than most cheap LCDs in the market. It has built-in hidden speakers and a subtle see-through strip that curves along the bottom of the frame. It has a pedestal that lets the TV swivel from side to side. The set, along with its stand, measures 39 inches wide by 27.3 inches tall by 11.8 inches deep and weighs 41 pounds. Without the stand, it stands at 39 inches wide by 25.2 inches tall by 3.2 inches deep and weighs 34 pounds.
The Samsung LN32A450 has a native resolution of 1,366×768, which is great fit for a television of this size. As for most Samsung TVs, this model features several ways of adjusting picture quality. The three standard picture modes are each independent per input.
The LN32A450’s detailed settings menu includes a white balance control to fine-tune color temperature.
The LN32A450 shares the same selection of advanced picture settings as the higher-end plasma TVs. They include five color temperature presets along with the capability to fine-tune color using the white balance menu; three varieties of noise reduction, including an automatic setting; a film mode to engage 2:3 pull-down; a seven-position gamma control that affects the TV’s progression from dark to light; a dynamic contrast control that adjusts the picture on the fly; a black adjust control that affects shadow detail; and a new color space control that lets you tweak the Samsung’s color gamut.
The Samsung LN32A450’s connectivity options two HDMI inputs found at the back, while a third can be found in a recessed bay along the panel’s left side. There’s also a pair of component-video inputs; an AV input with S-Video and composite video; a single RF input for cable and antenna; and a VGA-style RGB input for computers (1,360×768 maximum resolution). That recessed bay also offers an additional AV input with S-Video and composite video, a headphone jack, and the USB port.
As for the television’s performance, the LN32A450 produced blacks that are darker than those of any other set in the same category as this television. Dark scenes and shadows in the corners are reproduced very well.
As with many past Samsung displays, the LN32A550 performed very well when it comes to color production. Color didn’t go bluish in near-dark areas and primary colors, such as the red, green and blue are well within the good range.
The LN32A450 also did an impressive job with standard definition content. Details were sharp and it smoothed diagonal edges well. IT also engaged 2:3 pull-down quickly. Noise reduction was very effective at cleaning up low-quality sources.

Great Article. I’m shopping for a new LCD TV and I’m torn between getting a Samsung or a Sony. I hear great things about Samsung but I know the Sony name better. This article has helped me and I’m now leaning toward Samsung.
