VIZIO VO47LF 47″ LCD HDTV
Reviewing Vizio televisions is definitely a pleasure. Their quality and standard remains the same through every product coming out of their manufacturing plants and my awe and admiration for them is still the same. Their VO47LF 47″ LCD HDTV simply reaffirms that fact.
What I like with Vizio is how they package their products. They don’t shove new and untried technologies right down your throat, what they generally do is simply refine tried and true technologies that makes their product go up to the top.
The VO47LF is a monster, along with the black, non-swivel stand, at 77.5 pounds. The dual textured bezel creates a frame within a frame around the screen â similar to a double matte around a photo. The TV is furnished in a glossy piano black color with its outer frame in a cross-hatched matte black. The effect is understated and elegant, but almost subverted by the shiny gold “1080P FULL HD” label ingrained into the lower right corner of the bezel.
The only thing that mars its simplicity is the VIZIO logo that lights a dull yellow when the TV is plugged in and changes to a lighter white when the TV is turned on.
The set is packed with a bunch of connection options. Its panel is located on the back and contains four HDMI inputs which is linked to a stereo inputs. In addition, the panel offers two Component inputs (YPbPr) with matching stereo Audio Ins, one Composite (with Audio), one VGA (15 pin D-Sub) with a stereo Audio In mini-plug, one S-Video (with audio), and a Service port.
If you want to run audio out of the TV, there’s an SPDIF (optical) digital Audio Out and a stereo pair of RCA analog Audio Outs.
The only thing that will probably detracts users is the downward direction of the connectors which makes them much harder to view. However, a color-coded scheme makes the job a bit more bearable.
For the PIP and POP diehards, the VO47LF offers a wide range of possibilities, which can be controlled by the geometrically shaped A, B, C, and D buttons.
As for its performance, the TV is good. It is very good, but far from perfect. Watching the set, you will notice a tinge of green in shadows displayed on the set. But its very minimal that you won’t even feel that its there.
The VO47LF handled skin tones consistently well, which is, for most people, one of the pillars of brilliant picture quality. High definition programs are shown perfectly and Standard definition is pleasant enough. The Vizion VO47LF is not a stellar performer with standard definition signals.
Other noticeable features for this TV’s performance is its bright, colorful, and full HD image. The Black Levels could be deeper, which is exacerbated by the slight dull reflection of ambient light on the LCD panel.
Since this TV does not have a USB port, the best way to view your photos stored on your computer is through its RGB connection. Or, if your computer’s video card has an HDMI or DVI out, you could make a direct digital coupling with the VIZIO’s HDMI input.
The sound quality from the pair of 10W speakers is quite surprising. It is credible, but not dependable. If you want more oomph, then you probably want an external speaker to g
