Samsung HP-T4264 Plasma TV

samsung-hp-t4264.jpgEach of us wants a TV that is bang for the buck. That is one with a low price, but with great specifications and really nice features. Of course, you can never expect all of this in one great package. You have to at least compromise one thing to get the other - like pay up to have those great features and reliable quality. But with patience and good deal of luck, you might find something like the Samsung HP-T4264, while not bad, is good enough to satisfy anybody’s standards.

As mentioned, the set is not the best, but its good enough. Its color rendering is fair enough, and its pictures are awesome for a set at this price range. A plus for this HDTV is that its easy to set up. You don’t have to fuss too much on the settings to get the best picture that this TV has to offer.

Its inputs are located at the back panel and includes a few extra-easy-to-access inputs on the side. It has a headphone jack, a USB port for viewing pictures and listening to MP3s from an external device, a second S-Video port, and even an extra HDMI connector.

The menus are compact and readable. Like most TVs’ on-screen menus, they’re transparent, but you can shut off the transparency to increase readability. When you scroll through sources, the HP-T4264 skips ones that have nothing plugged into them. And you can rename the others, selecting from obvious choices like “DVD” and “DVR”.

Other cool features include a still button and picture-in-picture. However, you can’t watch two channels simultaneously because the HP-T4264 has only one tuner built into the set.

Most 720p Plasma HDTV scales down 1080p sources and displays them as best as they could. The HP-T4264 on the other hand refuses to display the signal at all. This may be one of the downsides for this set. But, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD players right now gives you the option to output signals at a lower resolution, so this might not be too much of a problem after all.
