mitsubishi-lt-40134.jpgHDMI 1.3, 120 HZ. These are the keywords that will attract you to the Mitsubishi LT-40134 40″ 1080p LCD HDTV. Yes, it supports HDMI 1.3, however, it is no a 120 Hz TV. The set has a 60 Hz native playback but it also accepts 1080p 24 Hz signals. But you know what, normal users won’t even know the difference. But still, these facts are worth mentioning just so all you readers will know.

The Mitsubishi LT-40134 does have several key features that videophiles will love. This includes excellent picture quality and ease of use. HDMI 1.3, with its increased bandwidth, has the potential of improving both video and audio quality. In addition, the set also features Deep Color and x.v.Color technologies that you see in most Mitsubishi televisions.

At first glance, the 40-inch HDTV seemed gigantic. This could just be an optical illusion by the set’s one inch thin bezel. The TV weighs 69 pounds and can easily be eased into TV stands and cabinets. It also has a stand that could swivel 30-degrees left and right.

At the back, you can easily locate the TV’s wide range of connectivity options. It has three HDMI inputs, two Component inputs (YPbPr) with matching stereo Audio Ins, two S-Video, two Composite (with Audio), an SPDIF (optical) digital Audio Out and a Service port. However, there is no VGA connector and if you want to connect it to a computer, you will have to use its HDMI slots.

As a television, the LT-40134 includes an integrated NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners and two RF antenna inputs. This will allow you to connect your Cable TV or Satellite cable connections easily without requiring an external device. At the side of the set, you have yet another HDMI and Component input along with a USB port for uploading photos so you can view them in all their glory.

The LT-40134 has a lot of features that users will generally love. Its performance also gives justice to this set. The picture quality, though not the best, is consistent and good. This is even more pronounced when fed with HD materials. Skin tones are solid and the TV’s sharpness is evident especially with sports and other fast-paced broadcasts.

One drawback to this set is its reproduction of blacks. Of course, LCD’s have been notorious for their black reproductions, but technological advances has started to catch up. But even so, the LT-40134 is still wanting in this category.

All in all, the Mitsubishi LT-40134 LCD is a set with rich features. It has future-proof functions like HDMI 1.3 connectivity and support for DeepColor and x.v.Color content. It’s black reproductions however is not that good. But overall, the set is pretty good when it comes to picture quality and sharpness.
