Sky attracts 64,000 new HD subscribers
According to its latest interim results, Sky attracted 64,000 new subscribers to its HD service in the second half of 2007, across the UK and Ireland.

Subscribers to Sky HD in the second half grew 18% to 422,000. Of the new HD customers, 19% were totally new customers, while the remainder were existing Sky subscribers adding to or changing their service.

The company’s home cinema service, Sky+ performed well, with the number of households with the service increasing by 434,000 to 3.131 million in the last quarter of 2007. This represents one new customer every 18 seconds.

Sky HD secured a “Raising The Bar Award” at the Royal Television Society Innovation Awards 2007. The company was recognised for introducing a technology which set a new ‘gold standard’ of expectations.
