Philips focuses on design to attract female buyers
Consumer electronics giant, Philips, is increasing its focus on design, following research which found that style is an important factor for 98% of female consumers when choosing which product to buy.

The company is launching a ‘Design Collection’ of LCD TVs with three new LCD TV series, the 7000, 5000 and 3000, providing a smoother, European, minimalist, and feminine design.

The top of the range, 7000 series Design Collection Ultimate Dream TV LCD HDTV, features 1080p resolution, 120Hz processing, a 2 millisecond response time, and 4 HDMI (v1.3) inputs.

Philips’ proprietary HD Digital Natural Motion technology (HD DNM), which reduces on-screen juddering, is included. Motion Estimation Motion Compensation (MEMC) provides even smoother motion by inserting compensating frames within faster scenes.

The set also has an ‘Invisible Sound System’, with audio positioned at the back of the set, and projected toward the viewer through a forward-curving bezel.

This provides clean lines, as there are no side speakers, or visible holes. The design is also said to enhance audio performance.
