Lionsgate adopts next-gen interactivity on Blu-ray

North American film distributor, Lionsgate, plans to include innovative, interactive technology on forthcoming Blu-ray films.

The company claims that its next two titles will have entirely new features which will “push the limits of next-gen interactivity”.

Lionsgate’s “War” title will feature a network-connected game which allows people to join up and play online.

A second film, “Saw IV” will include a Movie Blog feature which allows users to blog about the film via an Internet-connected Blu-ray player.

It is unlikely that this interactive technology will be compatible with older Blu-ray players, although the features should be available with new players, and existing players that can be updated via firmware.
