Samsung’s unveils LCD HDTV just 10mm thick

Samsung's unveils LCD HDTV just 10mm thick
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has followed the lead of Sharp, Hitachi and LG Philips, to announce an ultra-thin LCD.

At FPD International 2007, in Yokohama, Japan, October 24-26, Samsung is unveiling a range of LCD panels including a 40-inch (101.6cm) diagonal Full HD LCD TV panel only 10.0 millimeters thick.

The panel’s bezel has been reduced from the usual 30mm to just 14.6mm.

With an LCD backlight, the panel reproduces 92% of the NTSC standard for colour saturation and consumes less than 90 watts of power.

The panel is the thinnest yet available for its size. Although Sony’s XEL-OLED TV is 7mm thinner, it measures just 11-inches across the diagonal, and Samsung’s panel achieves also full HDTV resolution, which Sony’s device is not capable of.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is a global leader in semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies.
