Philips launches full HD LCD FlatTVs with 1080p display

Philips Electronics has launched a range of full HD FlatTVs with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p pixels.
The TVs provide sharper high-definition images than the current range of HDTVs available on the market that supports 1080i signals, from a range of HD sources including Blu-ray Disc players, gaming consoles and PCs.
The Philips Full HD FlatTVs with 1080p Displays are available in a range of screen sizes from 37 inches to 52 inches.
The series provides enhanced image quality by producing progressively scanned images in which every line of the scan is transmitted in succession. This differs from the 1080i format which transmits every other line through a technique known as interlaced images.
The new range provides crisp and flicker-free images, even when the images are constantly in motion, providing five-times more detail than that provided by standard definition TVs.
The series features Philips’ proprietary Pixel Plus HD technology, which scales and reproduce the best picture in the highest resolution on screen. The technology also enhances the image to provide vivid colours and removes digital noise to give ultra sharp picture quality.
Pixel Plus HD’s Dynamic Contrast Enhancer uses Dimming Backlight technology to reduce the effect of light leakage for dark scenes. This provides deep black levels with increased detail and improved contrast.
