Sky Arts Partners with BFI for hi-def classic films

Sky Arts has secured a second sponsorship deal with the British Film Institute (BFI) to create high definition versions of 13 classic films from the BFI National Archive.
The new deal follows a similar agreement in 2006 and brings the total number of high-definition classic films from the BFI archive to 29.
The latest films which will be made available in high-definition include Borderline (1930); London Can Take It! (1940); Words For Battle (1941); Fires Were Started (1943); The Silent Village (1943); The True Story of Lili Marlene (1944); A Diary For Timothy (1946); Bon Voyage (1944); Aventure Malgache (1944); Young Soul Rebels (1991); Radio On (1979) The Terence Davies Trilogy: Children (1976), Madonna and Child (1980), Death and Transfiguration (1983); and The Lotte Reiniger Fairy Tales: Jack and the Beanstalk (1955), The Magic Horse (1953), and Thumbelina (1955).
The films will be broadcast on Sky Arts’ Wednesday night film slot, for one year commencing this month.
