nec-multisync-lcd2470wnx-1.jpgThe NEC MultiSync LCD2470WNX 24-inch LCD is a great display for a number of uses. Business users will like the accurate colors and large amount of screen space, home users will like that the display is HDCP compliant so you can watch next generation protected HD content. Gamers will like the fact that the display shows no ghosting, smearing or tearing during fast action. The NEC MultiSync LCD2470WNX 24-inch LCD is a great all around PC display.

Out of the box, the NEC is immediately notable for how thick the display is, compared to most other monitors its size. It’s almost as deep as old short neck CRTs. If you’re looking for something slim and light to look impressive on your desk, this isn’t it. However, it won’t be an issue once it’s sitting on your desk and as an indicator of how much technology is inside, it bodes well. The NEC comes out of the box in one go, so you won’t have to spend time setting it up. The stand is covered with a cowling that slides upwards and off to reveal clips for cable management should you wish to keep things as tidy as possible.

The LCD2470WNX has a native screen resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels. It’s a widescreen display, and widescreen DVD movies looked great, with rich, accurate colors. You won’t notice any smearing that’s common when watching DVD movies on some LCD monitors. This LCD had fantastic image and color quality. Colors were rich and vibrant while skin tones were natural and realistic. Gaming on the display was also a joy with no ghosting, tearing or smearing of the on screen image during fast multiplayer action. The only real possible downside of this display is the price which is expensive indeed.

The LCD2470WNX monitor comes packed with advanced features such as, “No Touch Auto Adjust” and NaViKey 4-directional key for easy, hassle-free set up as well as a powered USB Hub that comes with four downstream ports for the easy and quick connection of USB peripherals. The display supports NEC’s exclusive NaViSet software, which offers an intuitive graphical user interface that allows users to adjust On Screen Manager (OSM) display settings via mouse and keyboard. This allows the user to set the monitor to a specific setting for color-critical programs and save settings to a file. The display also includes a 5-setting DV-Mode (Dynamic Video Mode), which optimizes the display’s settings with each application for correct adjustment to color-critical programs.

Overall, the NEC MultiSync LCD2470WNX 24-inch LCD delivers another master class in vibrancy, colour accuracy and viewing angles, making this a fine choice for anybody shopping for a computer monitor or an LCD display. Grumbles such as its lack of HDMI or component, and some minor other issues, mean it’s not ideal for the gamer, though the price would probably be enough to put them off.
