Universal launches Home Entertainment Hi Def site

Universal Studios has extended its ongoing support of the HD-DVD format with the launch of a new website - Universal Studios Home Entertainment Hi Def.
The site, parts of which are still under construction, provides support for consumers that have bought HD-DVD titles. It includes FAQs about interactive features, technical support on connection and other issues, and previews of upcoming titles.
It also features interactive links to NBC TV’s “Heroes” show and promises some exclusive web-enabled content such as movie trailers.
Future developments to the site include U-Shop, where consumers will be able to buy products as they watch films, ‘Best Buddies’ where users will be able to send friends pointers to favorite clips via the ‘MyScenes’ feature, and a dedicated Download Centre.
Universal Studios was recently joined by Paramount in exclusively supporting the HD DVD format, which is battling with Blu-ray in the high-def disc format war. The Blu-Ray format is supported by Sony Pictures, Disney, 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate and MGM.
Universal Studios Home Entertainment Hi Def site is available at www.universalhidef.com
