Sharp announces thinnest Aquos LCD TV

Sharp Electronics Corp has added to its range of widescreen, full-HD 1080p Aquos LCD TVs with the introduction of the D64U series.

The new lightweight line features case designs which are 24% slimmer than previous models. This means that customers can benefit from a larger picture where space is limited. The 42 inch model has the same footprint as a 40 inch model from an earlier line.

The series is available in several screen sizes - 65 inch, 52 inch, 46 inch and 42 inch. Sharp has saved space within the LCD panel by re-engineering the circuitry layout and reducing the number of parts, creating the thinnest large screen flat panel television currently available.

All of the screens feature Sharp’s Advanced Super View technology and TFT panel with multi pixel technology, providing superior high-definition performance.

They feature 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and Enhanced Fine Motion control, which provides a response time of 4ms.

Connectivity is provided via three HDMI 1.3 inputs, two component connections, a PC terminal and set of basic AV inputs.

The 65 inch model won’t be launched in the US until September, while the other screen sizes will be available later this month.
