Panasonic launches ‘Living in High-Definition’ programme

Panasonic launches 'Living in High-Definition' programme
Panasonic, in a partnership with Columbia University, has launched a ‘Living in High-Definition’ program.

The programme will study how high-definition technologies can have a positive impact on the lives of people living in the USA.

Panasonic is searching for 30 USA-families to live with $20,000 worth of HD equipment - including a large screen 1080p Plasma television, HD camcorder, Blu-ray Disc Player and Digital Still Camera.

As part of the selection process, the families will be asked what they would create in high-definition and why they would want to chronicle their lives in HD.

Applicant’s suitability will be judged against a diverse range of criteria by a panel of judges, including Hollywood producer/director Brett Ratner and Kevin Smith.

During the programme, the selected families will take part in monthly challenges and record them in High Definition.

They will be asked to work as a team at tasks such as as “Make Dad Cry In a Good Way”.

The families will also be asked to participate in surveys and interviews to assess the impact of High Definition technologies on their relationships, attitudes and daily activities.

Content created by the families will be published online and will also be made into a documentary film with Brett Ratner as creative advisor.

Families wishing to participate in the Living in HD program can visit http://www.livinginhd.com/ to register and get information on submitting their entry.
