HDNet purchases HD rights for Torchwood

US cable network, HDNet, has purchased the high-definition rights to the first 26 episodes of the BBC’s ‘Torchwood’ drama series.

The sci-fi series is a spin-off from the long-running ‘Dr. Who’ programme. Torchwood is based in Cardiff and follows a group of investigators who use alien technology to solve crimes.

The series will be shown over the high-def network in the US, which is available on satellite and several cable systems. The first episode will be aired on September 17 at 7 p.m. ET.
