Sharp’s LC-37D7U 37-inch LCD HDTV
If your looking for a reason to have your friends come over, then Sharp’s LC-37D7U 37-inch LCD HDTV is the right way to go. This LCD television is from Sharp’s Aquos collection and gives a slick titanium based design that is ready to go straight out of the box. It boasts of full features, slick design and solid performance with clean video processing. With this set, almost everything you need is pre-installed. There is no need for a separate receiver to watch high definition TV as it is already included and the ATSC tuner is built in. Standard and ATSC tuners are on board to allow over-the-air analog and high-definition TV. The set is also Digital Cable ready with a CableCard slot so you won’t need a cable box in order to enjoy digital and HD cable.
Some worthwhile features worth mentioning are the independent input memories, color-temperature controls, and a full arsenal of controls for managing colors, which Sharp refers to as Color Management System (CMS).
As for the connectivity, the LC-37D7U include two high-bandwidth component, one S-Video, two composite, three coaxial (one cable and two antenna), one HDMI, one RGB PC, and a pair of FireWire terminals that can be used to connect compatible D-VHS, Blu-ray, and hard drive recorders. There’s also an A/V output with S-Video, along with one optical digital audio output.
The LC-37D7U has an aspect ratio of 16:9, exactly as that found on movie screens. You can watch all your favorite films and sporting events on the clear 1366 x 768 pixel resolution that this set provides. It is perfect for displaying a full 720p HDTV but unfortunately, not all pixel of 1080i or 1080p pixels. However, given this disability, Sharp does scale all incoming pictures to fit the available pixels. It also has a viewing area of 170-degree, both horizontal and vertical, to allow everyone to watch television from virtually any angle in the room.
All in all, Sharp LC-37D7U 37-inch LCD HDTV achieves great performance for an LCD. Somewhat expensive but passable as it has plenty of inputs such as HDMI, DVI, and CableCard. It has a solid video processing and numerous color adjustments.
