Story link: Panasonic chip enhances HD-AV power by Jan Harris

Panasonic has commenced mass-production of a new 45nm chip at its manufacturing plant in Ouzo Japan.
The chip is designed to provide increased power and performance for high definition and audio-visual applications.
The UniPher (Universal Platform for High-quality Image Enhancing Revolution) processor provides H.264 video encoding/decoding and symmetric multi-processing.
It can be used to run two 1080p video displays in parallel and also provides improved 3D graphics performance.
It also consumes up to 50 per cent less energy than 65nm chips.
