Plextor announces USB digital HDTV receiver

Plextor has released its Mini Digital HDTV Receiver, which connects to a laptop’s USB port, allowing a user to watch high definition television while on the move.

The receiver, which draws its power from the computer, has an external antenna and software that scans for over-the-air HD signals.

It works with computers running Windows XP or Vista operating systems. High specification memory and graphics will provide a better viewing experience. If the computer is underpowered the picture can stutter.

ArtecMedia software, provided by Ultima, allows a user to switch channels and record and play-back shows.

The receiver, is available for $99 from www.plextor.com.

  1. Make sure you have >3Ghz CPU and enough free RAM. Also if a computer is heavily loaded (CPU, RAM) with other programs you won’t get true HDTV
