HDTV – Still More Guides

Story link: HDTV – Still More Guides by Kathryn Lang

If you haven’t made the HDTV leap just yet, you should get ready. Time is running out on the federal deadline for all broadcasts to be digital. This means that by 2009 you will be HD whether you want to or not.

Because of all the jargon covering HDTV, many consumers have been reluctant to get into the game. Resolution, 1080i, 1080p, HDTV ready, LCD, HDMI – the list of terms and descriptions seems to go on forever and makes little sense to the average television buyer.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way around this information. When getting ready to purchase an HDTV, you must do some homework. Every home, every situation, is a little different. Therefore, every consumer will have a “best” set for their home (and it’s probably different from the one your best friend just got a great deal on).

The good news is that there are literally thousands of guides to buying the perfect HDTV for your home. Most of them explain the terms and definitions that bombard shoppers. Some suggest the best set for the best buy. All of the better guides and experts say to trust your eye. Look for the set that is most appealing to you – in your budget – and stick with that.

What ever HDTV set you bring home, don’t forget that you will need HD programming to get the full benefit of your purchase.
