View the World in HDTV
The HDTV experience can be hypnotic. The clarity and quality of the picture draws you in to the experience so that you feel as if you are there. The Discovery Channel is set to take this experience to a whole new lever.
On March 16, Discovery will debut its first episode of the Planet Earth series on its Video On Demand channel. “Forests” and other future episodes will be available on March 25.
The Video on Demand will be offered through several cable operators, but Comcast is the only one offering broadcasting for HDTV. The March 16 release will include behind-the-scenes footage and sneak peeks at the episodes of the future.
The Planet Earth series is being touted as the ultimate HDTV experience for nature lovers around the world. The production has been in the works for five years and includes amazing footage of mountains, oceans, and forests.
Commercials and ads that are currently running for the series – which will include 11 one-hour episodes – promise an up-close and personal experience of nature like has never before aired.
It is likely that the Discovery HDTV broadcasts are only the beginning of more intense viewing experiences for the public. Because of the clarity provided by the technology, it allows a viewer to feel like he is experiencing the picture and not only looking at it.
Discovery recently made HDTV history by broadcasting live pictures from space.
