HDTV for Free - the Old fashioned Way

Story link: HDTV for Free - the Old fashioned Way by Kathryn Lang

After spending all you money on that new HDTV, what are you going to watch on it? Most new owners have been disappointed to find that the current programming they have through their cable or satellite is not designed for high definition. In order to upgrade, it’s going to cost even more money.

It’s enough already.

There is now a way for anyone with an HDTV set to receive high definition broadcasts at no additional cost to them. It’s not exactly a secret, but you don’t here the providers shouting the news across the air – that would be money out of their pockets.

The new technology is really an old reliable one. Remember the rabbit ears antenna that everyone had on their old boxed sets – the ones that were as big as the recliner? These can be used today to receive over-the pair high definition pictures, some of which are better than those that are available over the cable or satellite services. Even better, it doesn’t cost a penny.

The new antennas differ from their predecessors because they are more powerful and much smaller. One of the biggest downfalls is that the only stations that are available with the antenna method are the local channels like ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, etc.

HDTV owners are struggling to find the antennas because companies haven’t been making them. With the new interest in these old icons, that is about to change.
