HDTV Goes Portable
Getting an HDTV picture is going to get a little easier and a lot more flexible. Compro, a company known for its PC graphics and multimedia products, is gearing up to release its version of a set top box – with a catch.
There is no release date yet for the VideoMate U2700 nor are there any prices, but the anticipation is already beginning to grow. This box is designed to bring Over the Air (OTA) High Definition and Standard Definition channels reception to the desktop and laptop computers.
The new tuner will have time shifting and scheduling capabilities. Now consumers will have more flexibility in what they watch, when they watch it, and even where they watch it.
The hybrid TV box would have been a blessing for Super Bowl fans are scrambling to find HD viewing options. But Compro’s contributions to the high definition industry and to society as a whole will just have to wait.
The VideoMate U2700 comes packed with features like Compro DVD2, Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5 SE and Ulead DVD MovieFactor 4 SE. It is extremely compact and has remote control capabilities. It is sure to be one of the best mobile TV and video choices that the industry has yet to see.
The only downfall to Compro’s hybrid TV box is that is only has a 1080i resolution. With all of its other features combined with its mobility, it is likely that HDTV fans will be willing to overlook this minor flaw.
