Projector Sets Give More HDTV for the Buck

Story link: Projector Sets Give More HDTV for the Buck by Kathryn Lang

The projector television could prove to be the consumer’s best choice for a truly big screen high definitions television (HDTV) experience. Companies have made many improvements in the once bulky sets. They are down from the 30 lb mammoths of old to a miniaturized version that is also much easier for the average consumer to used.

There have also been great decreases in the cost of the sets. A 100 – inch picture can run a consumer as little as $1000.

The projectors were originally designed with business consumers in mind. They did find a home in the big screen lovers who had dedicated theaters as well. Then projector companies began to discover a trend. The business owner who used the projection sets during the week for business was taking it home to watch the game or movies over the weekend.

The projector companies were determined to make the most of this possible cross over market.

The companies began to redesign the projector sets to draw the home users. With built in DVD players, widescreen displays, surround-sound speakers and multiple ports to plug in accessories such as Xbox, it has worked. The home use of projectors sets has continued to increase.

The biggest obstacle that projector companies have to overcome is the display situation in electronics stores. Consumers are greeted by the crisp display of plasma HDTV – projection screens take up too much room to be displayed.
